A lot of gamers have an interest in the extraterrestrial. This could be because video games like Space Invaders, Halo, and Mass Effect have nurtured this interest. It could also be that the video game culture is intimately connected to the culture of Star Wars, Star Trek, and anything sci-fi. Whatever the reason behind it, the correlation between an interest in gaming and an interest in space is hard to deny.
Enter Vibrant Visuals, an indie developer that made the game Spacetours VR (Episode 1: The Solar System) that was released in March of this year. Today, the devs announced that the game has officially launched on the Oculus home. Until now, the title was exclusively available via Steam and Viveport.
Spacetours VR, driven by ambience and visual beauty, allows you to travel in a non-linear gameplay environment using state-of-the-art streaming techniques. Designed using 100s of NASA and ESA images to achieve the maximum realism and detail, the game offers travels to the orbit of the eight planets of the Solar System, where you glide chasing the sun on your personal platform.
As companions during your stay, the mechanical pioneers of the respective planets have been fully restored and relaunched. Earth orbit for example offers the first man-made space station, known in history books as the “International Space Station”, equipped with several vista spots conveniently accessible from your base platform.
That is pretty exciting! Check out the launch trailer:
