There probably isn’t a game out there that more people are looking forward to outside of Cyberpunk 2077. However, even so, most of us have no real idea what’s going to actually happen in the Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Square has promised us that this is the first in an installment series, which didn’t go over that well at first, given Square’s history. However, fears are being somewhat allayed the closer we get to release that the company is going to do the game right. The main concern was that Square would release an installment on this gen’s consoles and then one for the next or never again.

As insane as it is to imagine, gamers are right to worry about devs sticking to the plan when it comes to big releases. After all, what we think is a huge blockbuster success could just be “break even” when you consider how much it takes to bring these games to market.

Recent news, however, brings us even more comfort because Square has revealed that the remake of one of gaming’s most beloved titles is going to absolutely ruin your hard drive. That’s because it’s going to be 100GB at least.

Yes, you read that right.

There’s going to be so much content in this first installment in the renewed FFVII saga that you might need to buy an external hard drive to make your dreams happen.

Of course, the title has shown off some pretty flashy graphics, but that couldn’t be the only thing taking up so much space. The recent reveal of the demo shows a richly detailed world that could be a preview of what is to come when the game is released in its entirety. One thing we have heard is that the first part will take place fully within Midgar while the second part of the game will break out of that space.

Naturally, the potential for exploration and addition to the original is pretty much unlimited.

And if Square is going for 100GB for this remake’s first portion, we’d say their plans are probably pretty ambitious for the full game. One thing is sure, this game is going to be one of the biggest – if not the biggest – of 2020.

It’s pretty crazy when you think about how many amazing games are coming out this year alone and it becomes even more insane when you think about how much time these games want to take away from your life to experience. That’s not to even mention the next-gen consoles on the horizon.

Are you planning on picking up the Final Fantasy VII Remake? What are you looking forward to most with the game? Share your thoughts on this story – and your favorite FFVII memories – in the comments section below if you like.
