One of Sony’s exclusive juggernauts is heading to another platform.
According to PlayStation Head of Worldwide Studios Hermen Hulst on the US PlayStation Blog, Horizon: Zero Dawn is slated for a PC release this summer.
Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer….,” Hulst said. “There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.”
Hulst went on to add that just because H:ZD is coming to PC it doesn’t mean everyt first-party PlayStation title will make the migration as well. He stated that the move was meant to “introduce more people to PlayStation” and added that H:ZD was a “great fit” for that idea.
Hulst additionally stated that skeptical fans have no reason for concern when it comes to future development focus at Sony.
“We remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware,” Hulst said.
Despite the fact that Hulst said exclusive games are still going to be a thing, having H:ZD go to PC is a pretty significant move. Personally I like when gaming becomes more accessible to players as I’ve left the “console wars” mentality behind a long time ago.
