If you’re a fan at all of shmups you’ve already heard of Zero Ranger. Released just over two years ago by developer System Erasure, Zero Ranger is both a love letter and novel take on the genre.
Just a few hours ago the System Erasure Twitter released a link to what appears to be their next game, called Void Stranger.
The trailer features two minutes of gameplay snippets with some visuals and accompanying music that brings back some memories. The footage is entirely in black and white and already looks to have a very compelling aesthetic. With the gameplay are some scattered cutscene images, all of which look incredible.
While a lot of people may make the easy connection to saying it resembles a Zelda game, to me the first game that came to mind was Adventures of Lolo. The gameplay displayed definitely seemed to be more on the puzzle side of things rather than combat.
In any case, there are enough references to Zero Ranger in the video to make me very interested in what’s to come for this title.
And if you haven’t yet tried Zero Ranger, you can find it on the Steam store here.
